Birth Story/Meet Loré!

Baby girl was born July 16th, 2019 at 7 pounds 10oz and 21 inches long. She came literally a day before her due date, and let me tell you I was READY for her to come out! 9 months is a long a** time man…Pregnancy is a lonngg Tin. For about 2 weeks, I was researching and trying different methods to naturally induce labor. We did the long walks at the mall, the park, I even got the yoga ball to sit and bounce on at home. I’ve never wanted to be in pain so bad before lol.

Fast-forward to 2 am on July 16th, I woke up to some cramp-like pains (why is it that most women go into labor at such odd hours in the middle of the night?). At first, I was like omg is this it or am I just imagining this pain? I decided to just relax and start timing the contractions using my bloomlife device. Also, this might be TMI but one advice a friend gave me was to make sure to do #2 before you go to the hospital so I got up to do that lol. Anyways, the pain slowly started getting more and more painful every 3 mins, so I was now convinced that It wasn’t just Braxton hicks and woke up my husband around 3 am saying “I think I’m in labor”. He was like ‘oh really ok’  and basically went back to sleep lol. My next contraction was REALLY painful so this time I smacked him awake like I’M PRETTY SURE I’M IN LABOR. He woke up this time and called my doctor and hospital to let them know we would be on our way.

I was admitted to labor& delivery around 3:30, got my epidural finally at around 7 am and waited to get to the 10cm of dilation. During this waiting period, I had IBK, my mom and sister with me. I took a short nap, listened to Sade and then some afrobeat music, texted my friends, honestly it was a great time lol epidurals are a blessing from GOD, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise lol. Anyways by 4:20ish I was 10cm dilated and my nurse called my doctor and in three pushes she was out 😀

Needless to say, babygirl has changed our whole world. These past 3/4 weeks has been such an experience! I definitely can’t wait to share with you both my struggles (breastfeeding OMG!) and triumphs as a new mom!

    Two things.
    1. Congratulations on your new website!!!
    2. She’s starting to look like you. When I saw her two weeks ago I couldn’t really see it, but you’re definitely making great strides in getting her to look like you 😉 they say the more time you spend with someone the more you start to look alike, right? Must be the late night feedings 🙂
